As with many businesses across the globe, COVID-19 has forced me to re-evaluate the services I provide, at least for the time being. It has not, however, changed my commitment to supporting women along the incredible Journey through pregnancy, labor, birth, and new motherhood. It has not changed my belief that a purposeful, dedicated yoga practice is the best means of preparing a woman’s body, mind, and spirit for the challenges of that Journey, helping her to believe in her strength and power to birth.
When I began Journey Yoga, one of the most important aspects was to create a community of women who could share this Journey together and I have seen that play out again and again. It brings me great joy to hear the sharing and conversations that happen before and after class, to see friendship grow where there were once strangers. However, even if gyms and yoga studios are permitted to open their doors in the coming weeks, I do not feel comfortable gathering pregnant women together in an enclosed space just yet. I’m also pretty sure most clients would not be keen to practice outdoors in the summer heat at 30, 35, 40 weeks pregnant!
So the question becomes, how do I keep Journey Yoga alive and thriving during this time and still feel confident I am keeping myself and my clients safe? As some of you know, I was offering classes via Facebook Live, and those classes are still available on my page to anyone interested in practicing along.
Moving forward, I will be offering a more “private” option to clients, in the form of two “package” deals.
The Unlimited Yoga package entitles you to unlimited private yoga sessions with me throughout your pregnancy, either online or at a safe outdoor setting of your choice (backyards are fine!), up to one class per week. Additionally, you are entitled to one session with your partner where we will practice comfort measures for labor and birth, including breath work, massage, and optimal positions. Cost: $250
The Yoga and Birth Support package offers you the same unlimited private yoga sessions and includes my full birth support services: several prenatal meetings, including optimal birth planning and comfort measures for labor and birth; in-person support through labor, delivery and immediate post-partum; and one post-partum visit 1-2 weeks after delivery. Cost: $750
I will also provide, by appointment, private or small group classes to anyone who is interested, either prenatal, postnatal, or open. The cost will be $25/session. Contact me through the website if you are interested in scheduling a class.
I truly hope we will get back to offering studio classes in the not too distant future. In the meantime, be safe, be well, and I hope to see you soon!
